Maternity Photography – Frequently Asked Questions

Every maternity session is a personal experience, designed to celebrate you and this special chapter of your life. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, confident, and fully prepared from the moment you book until you receive your final portraits.

Below, you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about booking, wardrobe, hair and makeup, posing, partners and family members, photo selection, retouching, RAW images, and the overall maternity photography experience.

How do I book my maternity session?

I do not have an online calendar where sessions can be booked automatically. I prefer to communicate with each client personally so we can find the date and time that works best for your pregnancy, your schedule, and the session you are planning.

To reserve a date, simply email, call, or text me and let me know:

Which maternity package you are interested in

A few dates that work well for you

I will check my calendar, and together we will choose the best available date and time.

I photograph maternity sessions throughout the week as well as on weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays, depending on availability.

Once we agree on a date, I will send you the booking information to officially reserve your session.

When is the best time to schedule a maternity session?

Every pregnancy is different, so there isn’t one perfect week that works for everyone.

The most important thing is not to leave your maternity photoshoot until the very end of your pregnancy. During the final weeks, you may begin to feel heavier, more tired, or less comfortable, which can make a full photoshoot more challenging.

I recommend planning your maternity session when your belly is beautifully visible but you still feel comfortable and have the energy to enjoy the experience.

If you’re unsure about the best time for you, contact me and let me know how many weeks pregnant you are. I’ll be happy to help you choose an appropriate date.

Is hair and makeup included?

Hair and makeup are not included in the maternity packages.

I don’t work with one dedicated hair and makeup artist because my clients come from diverse backgrounds, with different skin tones, hair types, personal styles, and preferences. I want every woman to feel like herself and have a look that feels personal to her.

More than 90% of my clients do their own makeup. Professional lighting, wardrobe, camera quality, and final retouching make a significant difference in the finished portraits, so there is no need to stress about having elaborate makeup.

You are welcome to do your own hair and makeup or book a professional you already know and trust. I recommend working with someone whose work you are familiar with so there are no surprises on the day of your session.

Please arrive at the studio with your hair and makeup completely ready so we can dedicate your session time to photography.

Do you provide maternity outfits?

Yes. I provide an extensive maternity wardrobe for my clients.

You can choose from the pieces available in my studio or send me inspiration from looks you see on my Instagram. Approximately 99% of the maternity outfits featured in my portfolio are part of my studio wardrobe.

I do not provide jeans, basic tops, or fresh flowers. However, I do have beautiful and very realistic faux flowers available in the studio.

Usually, about a week before the session, my clients send me their favorite outfit selections and inspiration images. This allows me to understand the style you would like to achieve and prepare for your session.

My goal is always to combine my artistic style with your personal vision and create something that feels uniquely yours.

Do you provide clothing for my partner or other family members?

No. Clothing for partners, children, or other family members is not provided.

Every person has a different body type, size, fit, and personal style. Especially with casual or fitted clothing, it would be very difficult to maintain a wardrobe that fits everyone comfortably and looks flattering on every body type.

However, I will be happy to guide you on what your partner or family members should wear so everything coordinates beautifully with your maternity wardrobe and the overall style of the session.

Simple, timeless colors such as white, black, beige, cream, and other neutral tones usually photograph beautifully.

Will you help me with posing?

Absolutely. You do not need any modeling experience or need to know how to pose.

I will guide you throughout the entire session — from your body position and hands to your expressions, angles, and movement.

Every woman and every body is different, so I will guide you into poses and angles that photograph beautifully and complement your individual shape.

My goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident while creating elegant, natural, and artistic maternity portraits.

Can my partner be included?

Yes. Your partner can be included when couple portraits are part of your selected package.

We can create a combination of individual maternity portraits and intimate couple photographs while maintaining the same elegant and artistic style throughout your gallery.

Can my children or other family members participate?

Yes, depending on the package you select.

Adding children or additional family members requires additional photography time, posing, and final images, so an additional-person fee may apply.

Please let me know before booking who you would like to include so I can make sure we select the appropriate option and allow enough time for your session.

What should I bring to my maternity session?

Please arrive with your hair and makeup completely ready and bring nude underwear and a nude strapless bra.

If we have planned any looks using your own clothing — such as jeans, a basic top, lingerie, or another personal piece — please bring those items with you.

We will plan your main maternity wardrobe together before your session.

Can I send you inspiration photos?

Absolutely. In fact, I encourage it.

About one week before your session, you can send me the maternity looks, poses, colors, lighting styles, or photographs that inspire you. These can be images from my own portfolio or other references that represent the feeling and style you love.

The goal is not to copy another session exactly. Your inspiration helps me understand what you are drawn to, and I combine that with my own photography, lighting, and artistic style to create something personal for you.

Who chooses the photos that will be edited?

You choose your final photos.

After your session, I will send you an online selection gallery containing the images from your photoshoot.

You will be able to look through the gallery and choose your favorite photographs according to the number of professionally retouched images included in your package.

Once you submit your selections, your chosen photographs will enter the professional editing process.

Will my skin and body be retouched?

Yes. Every final photograph you select receives professional retouching consistent with my signature style.

Retouching is designed to create a polished and refined final portrait while still allowing you to look natural and recognizable.

I do not make extreme transformations or completely change a person’s appearance.

Can I purchase additional edited photos?

Yes. If you love more photographs than the number included in your package, you can purchase additional professionally retouched images for $45 per photo.

Are RAW or unedited photos included?

No. Maternity packages include only the number of professionally edited photographs specified in your package.

If you would like to receive all of the RAW/unedited photos from your session, the complete gallery is available for an additional $500.

RAW images are delivered unretouched and do not include the professional finishing applied to your selected final portraits.

How long does it take to receive my photos?

The photo delivery process has two separate steps.

Step 1 – Photo Selection Gallery

Within approximately 15–20 days from the date of your photoshoot, you will receive an online gallery containing the images from your session.

From this gallery, you will select the photographs you would like professionally retouched according to the number included in your package.

Step 2 – Professional Retouching

Once you submit your final selections, your photographs are placed in the editing queue.

Please allow approximately 15–20 additional days from the date you submit your selections for professional retouching and final delivery.

The sooner you send me your selections, the sooner your photographs can enter the editing queue. If you take additional time to choose your photographs, your final delivery date will naturally be later.

Once completed, your professionally retouched photographs will be delivered in high resolution through a private online gallery.

Where is your maternity studio located?

My private maternity photography studio is located in Jersey City, New Jersey, conveniently located approximately 5 minutes from the Holland Tunnel.

The studio is where we create the complete maternity photography experience, with access to my maternity wardrobe, professional lighting, different setups, and everything we need to create your final portraits.
